Anyone is playing with theStar (Malaysia Newspaper)Crossword Puzzle.
Not another one trying for the lottery !

Friend, the Star crossword is a kind of circulation-boosting
exercise. They give you some 30 clues including about 15 with
at least two likely answers which can swing either way and "the
judges' decisions are final"

For example : It pays to have a productive .... (4)
They give you MIN?
Now, you can argue till the cows come home whether it should be
mind or mind, as both are equally acceptable.

Another one: A useful thing in the office (7)
They give you P?INTER
Now there are three possible answers, pointer, painter or printer

Assuming each of the 15 controversial questions has 2 possible
answers, there are 32,768 possible combinations. So the paper will let
the prize snowball and the sum gets bigger and people like you are
drawn into buying more papers (or ask friends and relatives to collect
the coupons)

If you are seriously interested in solving cryptic crossword puzzles,
buy the New Sunday Times and turn to the inside back cover of Nuance,
the colour supplement. Uncle Yap has a weekly puzzle there. Subscribe
to the free answer service and I will provide the answers and
explanation one week later.

Seems fair / logical ;-)
You only need to make up your "mind"
Which presumably should be a "mine" of information?

Have a good weekend :-)

Don't think you'll find anyone here disagreeing that mind and mind are equally
acceptable :)

Unless, of course, one is pronounced mind and the other, mind.

But, in FORTRAN it'd be DMIN, Shirley?
